Arvind Kejriwal, the national convenor for the Aam Aadmi Party, harshly criticized a large-scale housing project proposed in North Goa during a protest on Sunday. He accused the ruling BJP of prioritizing 'destructive' projects that undermine the state's welfare, favoring corporate and builder lobbies.
According to AAP, the development plans to convert roughly 130 acres into over 1,700 residential plots, with a fabricated white sand beach. Kejriwal expressed concern that the project could bring 8,000 to 10,000 new residents to a village that currently houses about 6,500 people, putting local resources under severe strain.
Kejriwal joined the villagers protesting for over two months, claiming the initiative would cause large-scale environmental disruptions, including hill cutting, which could endanger farming, grazing, and other traditional jobs. He condemned GOP leaders for enabling projects that prioritize economic gains over sustaining local communities.
