In a worrisome escalation of tensions, Pakistani troops resorted to unprovoked shelling along the Line of Control in the districts of Kupwara and Baramulla in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday night, according to officials.
The Boniyar area in Baramulla district and the Tangdhar sector in Kupwara were targeted, but thankfully, no casualties have been reported so far. In response, Indian armed forces engaged in effective retaliation, ensuring control of the situation.
On the night spanning May 7 and 8, small arms and artillery fire were exchanged in multiple sectors, including Baramulla, Kupwara, Uri, and Akhnoor. Earlier, residents of the Karnah area sought safety after Operation Sindoor by Indian forces, which targeted terror infrastructure within Pakistan-controlled areas.
