Senior leader and three-time MLA Sunny Joseph assumed the presidency of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) in a ceremony held on Monday. The event marked a significant leadership shift as outgoing president K Sudhakaran handed over control of the state unit to Joseph.
Alongside Joseph, key figures such as P C Vishnunath MLA, Shafi Parambil MP, and A P Anil Kumar MLA took up their roles as working presidents, while Adoor Prakash MP became the UDF convener. The transition occurred amidst anticipation ahead of upcoming local and state elections. Sunny Joseph's inaugural tasks included seeking guidance and support from Congress stalwart A K Antony.
Despite some internal disagreement over the leadership change, the Congress's central leadership is optimistic. Veteran leader A K Antony expressed full confidence in Joseph's team, emphasizing the importance of securing broad public trust. Joseph's leadership promises revitalization ahead of the 2026 election, a task driven by the ambition to emulate the Congress's past successes.
