Congress Working Committee member Shashi Tharoor on Thursday acknowledged his differences of opinion with some leaders within the Congress party. However, he refrained from discussing these issues publicly due to the ongoing by-election in Nilambur. Tharoor emphasized his unwavering loyalty to Congress, its values, and its workers, highlighting his 16-year dedication to the party.
The Congress MP from Thiruvananthapuram found himself at odds with party colleagues after reportedly aligning with the Modi government's stance following the Pahalgam terror attack. Despite facing criticism for seeming pro-BJP remarks, Tharoor clarified these as misunderstandings and insisted he had no intentions of departing the Congress. He remained committed to the party's success, even after being excluded from Nilambur's bypoll campaign.
Tharoor defended his acceptance of the government's invitation to head international delegations, stating his focus on India's national interests rather than partisan politics. Amidst speculations about his political future, Tharoor reiterated his dedication to tackling responsibilities with sincerity for the benefit of his constituents and the nation.
