A 40-year-old woman named Raseena, a mother of three, has died by suicide in Kerala, allegedly following a mob trial that has sparked widespread controversy. Police have arrested three men based on clues from her suicide note, though her family has defended the arrested individuals and accused a male friend of exploiting her financially.
According to police, the suicide note indicated that Raseena faced public humiliation and distress, leading to the arrests. However, Raseena's mother claims the real issue was the financial exploitation by a man from Mayyil village, who allegedly appropriated her gold and money. The police continue to investigate, interviewing all involved.
The incident has also drawn criticism from political figures like CPI(M) leader P K Sreemathi, who condemned the act as extremist. She called for the eradication of such behavior, which she described as akin to 'Talibanism,' stressing the need to confront and stop these radical acts in Kerala.
