West Bengal BJP President Sukanta Majumdar has accused the Kolkata Police of blocking their rally to commemorate 'Paschimbanga Divas'. The incident is the latest in a political tussle with the Trinamool Congress (TMC) over the official statehood day.

While the TMC-led government has designated Poila Baisakh as West Bengal Day, the BJP adheres to a central notification marking June 20. This date commemorates the 1947 Bengal Legislative Assembly vote for the state's partition.

Despite assurances of carrying only the national flag, the police halted BJP's rally, resulting in the arrest of several workers. Mamata Banerjee's administration is accused of directing the police to prevent the event, intensifying the ongoing feud.
