In a scathing attack, Assam Congress chief Gaurav Gogoi criticized Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday for his defense of a state minister who allegedly gained undue advantage from a government scheme. Gogoi claimed that those genuinely in need were being left out of initiatives intended to assist them.
Gogoi accused the government of favoritism, alleging that close associates of the administration had repeatedly benefited disproportionately, while entrepreneurs, small farmers, and marginalized communities struggled for equitable access to resources. He argued that these incidents reflected a betrayal of the Chief Minister's commitment to public service.
In other developments, Chief Minister Sarma marked the commencement of the 'Ambubachi Mahayog,' inviting pilgrims from across the nation to join the celebrations at Nilachal Hills. Sarma also announced the opening of newly constructed district jails, further contributing to the region's infrastructure development.
