In a dramatic turn of events, the Congress party has demanded a 'farewell function' for former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, whose sudden resignation has stirred controversy. The plea, made by Congress leader Jairam Ramesh at a Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting, has so far received no government response.
Despite the Congress's call for a 'dignified farewell' for Dhankhar, who served for three years, the government, represented by Union ministers J P Nadda and Kiren Rijiju, remains silent on the matter. Notably, no other opposition leaders have rallied behind Ramesh's demand.
The situation unfolds as six Rajya Sabha members, including Ambumani Ramadoss and Vaiko, receive farewells. Meanwhile, the Congress alleges Dhankhar was compelled to resign after endorsing a controversial notice against Justice Yashwant Varma, implicating political tensions in his departure.
