The Indian government has announced a pause in Operation Sindoor, which targeted terror sites in Pakistan, while warning of potential resumption if provoked. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh emphasized India's strengthened stance against terrorism under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, asserting that decisive action was needed following previous attacks.
Singh, alongside External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, refuted claims that US President Donald Trump mediated a ceasefire linked to a trade deal. They clarified there was no dialogue between Modi and Trump during the critical period. The opposition criticized the government, demanding explanations for alleged security failures and the number of jets downed.
As the Lok Sabha debate continued, Singh asserted that India's history of non-aggression has shifted to decisive action against terrorism. Jaishankar highlighted overwhelming international support for India's response following the Pahalgam attack, marking a new approach in tackling cross-border terrorism, refusing to yield to nuclear blackmail and emphasizing military decisiveness.
