Telangana's Congress, under the leadership of state president B Mahesh Kumar Goud, announced plans for a protest at Delhi's Jantar Mantar on August 6. They are demanding Presidential assent for bills aimed at increasing BC quotas to 42% in local body polls, education, and employment.
Goud, after commencing a 'padayatra' in Parigi, outlined the state Congress's strategy, which includes visits to Delhi from August 5 to 7 to press their demands. The Chief Minister and other leaders will join the demonstration to sway central government action.
The BC quota bills, which had BJP support initially but now face delays, were approved by Telangana's legislature in March. Congress's national strategy also includes raising the issue in parliament and submitting a memorandum to President Droupadi Murmu.
