Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy issued a stern warning to the BJP-led central government on Thursday, cautioning against obstructing the state's efforts to enhance OBC reservation quotas. In a press conference held in Delhi, Reddy openly accused the Centre of intentionally delaying presidential approval for the state's reservation bills.

During the event, Reddy emphasized Rahul Gandhi's promise of OBC reservations during the Bharat Jodo Yatra, highlighting that the Congress government in Telangana had delivered on this pledge after taking office. He explained that after the formation of the Congress-led administration, the reservation resolution was completed and dispatched to the Governor before being forwarded to the President for final approval.

Reddy expressed grievances over the Modi government's alleged tactics to stall the process. He asserted that Prime Minister Modi did not accommodate requests for discussions, with the BJP allegedly opposing the initiative by labeling it a 'Muslim reservation bill'. The Congress leader criticized the BJP's stance, pointing out that Muslims receive reservations in various BJP-governed states, including Maharashtra and Gujarat.

Additionally, Reddy remarked on the perceived hypocrisy of the BJP, noting that Muslim reservations exist in Varanasi, the constituency represented by PM Modi. He accused the BJP of being anti-OBC and reiterated the need to protect OBC interests, even as the TRS accused the Congress of mere theatrics.

The Congress, aligning with its manifesto commitment, had staged protests in New Delhi, pressing for the swift presidential assent of Telangana's bill, which aims to grant 42 percent reservation to OBCs in sectors such as education, employment, and governance.

Furthermore, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi recently appealed to President Droupadi Murmu, advocating for approval of Telangana's reservation measures as a significant step toward equitable progress for marginalized communities across India.
