Union Textile Minister Giriraj Singh criticized former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav and Leader of Opposition Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, on Monday for allegedly spreading misinformation regarding the Election Commission's Special Intensive Revision exercise in Bihar, timed before the state assembly elections. Singh accused the duo of instigating "lies and confusion," claiming the Constitutionally sanctioned body will consider legal action against Yadav's statements.
Singh, speaking to the press, alleged, "Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav only lie and spread confusion." He contended that Yadav fabricated his own voter ID details while attempting to malign the integrity of the Election Commission. Singh stressed that Yadav's petty allegations aimed at confusing the public come from someone who views himself as a future Chief Minister.
The controversy erupted after Tejashwi Yadav claimed electoral roll discrepancies, asserting his name was missing despite holding a valid Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC) number, fueling allegations of election process irregularities. Following these claims, Patna's Electoral Registration Officer requested Yadav to provide his EPIC details for further investigation. Meanwhile, Janata Dal United criticized Yadav's assertions, accusing him of misrepresentation after officials confirmed his name was indeed on the voter list.
