Supreme Court Rebukes Rahul Gandhi Over Army Remarks

The Supreme Court on Monday criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for making alleged derogatory remarks against the Indian Army during his Bharat Jodo Yatra. These comments led to legal proceedings against Gandhi, which the Supreme Court has now stayed.

A bench consisting of Justices Dipankar Datta and Augustine George Masih has issued notice to the Uttar Pradesh government and the complainant, Udai Shanker Srivastava, who argues that Gandhi's remarks were made in a mala fide manner.

In response to the uproar, the bench questioned Gandhi's choice of words, pointing out that as a Leader of Opposition, his statements belonged in Parliament, not on social media. The controversy hinges on Gandhi's alleged claim that "2000 sq km" of land was occupied by China.
