The West Bengal unit of the BJP is gearing up to launch the second phase of a digital audit aimed at purging 'ghost' workers and curbing inflated data. This effort comes as part of a strategy to establish stronger booth-level control ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.

In an internal verification drive, the party has already seen 1.5 lakh functionaries upload their photo voter ID cards onto a central digital platform. This cross-verification process will confirm whether party members actually reside and represent their assigned areas.

The BJP's initiative targets decade-old organizational practices where numbers were padded for turf preservation. The digital audit's next phase will see real-time verifications through a newly launched mobile app, enabling immediate checks on party functionaries' profiles.
