Tensions soared in Nalgondavaripalli, Kadapa district, as supporters of YSRCP and TDP clashed violently during the ZPTC by-election campaign in Pulivendula.
The discord was marked by TDP workers allegedly pelting YSRCP MLC Ramesh Yadav's convoy with stones, resulting in vehicle damage and injuries to several individuals, including YSRCP supporter Ramalinga Reddy and two TDP leaders.
Despite temporary calm due to heavy rain, tensions flared when Reddy's team entered a restricted zone, violating police advisories. The by-election, following ZPTC member C Maheshwar Reddy's death, gains significance as it is the home constituency of Jagan Mohan Reddy.
The Election Commission urged candidates to coordinate with police to ensure peaceful campaigning in faction-sensitive areas like Pulivendula.
