In a bid to bring critical electoral issues to the forefront, Congress MPs Syed Naseer Hussain and Ranjeet Ranjan have moved for a suspension of Rajya Sabha's business under Rule 267. The duo has raised alarms over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar, casting doubts over the integrity of the electoral process.
The notices, demanding an open dialogue in the upper house, point to the potential disenfranchisement of marginalized groups due to a lack of safeguards and transparency. "We are witnessing serious concerns about the exclusion of precarious communities, threatening the fairness of our electoral systems," Hussain emphasized in his notice.
Amid continuous parliamentary adjournments, opposition leaders plan to protest within the Parliament complex, calling for an inclusive and fair democratic process. The push for debate comes as Bihar's election preparations raise alarms over voter roll revisions and their impact on vulnerable communities.
