Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen has called on former U.S. President Donald Trump to impose sanctions on Russia, asserting that such measures could help conclude the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

Valtonen, speaking in a Reuters NEXT Newsmaker interview, emphasized the impact of increased arms deliveries to Ukraine, suggesting they have intensified pressure on Russia to seek an exit strategy from the war. Finland, alongside other Nordic nations and the Baltics, has been a strong supporter of Ukraine amidst the conflict.

Following Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Finland took a significant geopolitical step by joining NATO, marking a departure from its longstanding policy of non-alignment.
