Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will visit India for two days starting Monday, concentrating on border discussions with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. The Ministry of External Affairs confirmed the visit, which occurs just before Prime Minister Narendra Modi's scheduled visit to China for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit.
The key focus of Wang Yi's visit is to engage in the next round of Special Representatives' dialogue on the boundary issue. Wang and Doval are the appointed special representatives for these crucial talks. The visit is expected to further the ongoing efforts to revive dialogue mechanisms between the two nations following the tensions in 2020, marked by the Galwan valley conflicts.
Wang Yi will also meet External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar for bilateral discussions. With China's leadership in the SCO, the diplomatic engagements this month aim to rebuild and repair the India-China bilateral ties strained over the recent years.
