Setting the stage for the 2026 Tamil Nadu assembly elections, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief and actor Vijay announced his party's primary adversaries at a massive rally in Madurai. He characterized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as TVK's 'ideological enemy' and the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) as its 'political enemy'.
Vijay underscored TVK's dedication to social welfare, prioritizing the safety of women, elders, and children. He emphasized that TVK was founded not for political gains but to address the needs of marginalized groups like farmers, the elderly, and those with disabilities. Drawing inspiration from historical political changes, Vijay predicted a similar transformation in 2026.
Using the metaphor of a lion's roar to describe his political stance, Vijay extolled the leadership of past icons like AIADMK founder MGR and DMDK founder Vijayakanth. He declared the DMK government as 'anti-people' and predicted TVK would lead a successful challenge. Accusing the DMK of a covert alliance with the BJP, Vijay aims to position TVK as a third political front, providing an alternative to the established parties.
