In the wake of a tragic incident in Gorakhpur, Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav has launched a scathing criticism against the Uttar Pradesh government. A medical student, Deepak Gupta, was reportedly killed following a violent clash with cattle smugglers, casting a spotlight on alleged lapses in law and order in Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's own assembly constituency.
Yadav highlighted ongoing crimes in Gorakhpur, pointing out that this is not the first time such an incident has occurred in the area. Previously, a businessman was also killed under questionable circumstances. This situation, he insists, raises grave concerns about the effectiveness of law enforcement. The incident, which led to public unrest and protests, calls into question the police's role and response.
Demanding an inquiry into the cattle smuggling operations in the region, Yadav urged the government to offer Rs 5 crore in compensation and a government job to the victim's family, emphasising the high costs associated with medical education. Meanwhile, local authorities, including Gorakhpur SSP Raj Karan Nayyar, confirmed the details of the incident and assured that strict actions will be taken as directed by the Chief Minister.
