Odisha's Chief Electoral Officer, R S Gopalan, revealed that the final version of the Nuapada assembly constituency's electoral roll would be published on October 9. This move comes in anticipation of the by-poll necessitated by the recent passing of MLA Rajenda Dholakia.
Currently, Nuapada's electoral roll lists 2,48,256 electors, with female voters outnumbering their male counterparts. A claim and objection filing period for the revision process is active, concluding on September 29. Applicants are allowed to provide their Aadhaar Number, although it's not a requirement for inclusion or deletion of names.
In a bid to enhance the electoral process, 56 new polling stations have been set up, increasing the total to 358. With 35 located in urban areas, the rest are situated in rural regions. Gopalan emphasized the importance of political parties appointing booth-level agents to assist the electoral roll revision and ensure grassroots engagement.
