In a tragic incident in Hoshiarpur, a five-year-old boy was allegedly kidnapped and murdered by a migrant worker, igniting widespread outrage across the region. Political figures, including Shiromani Akali Dal leader Daljit Singh Cheema, have condoled with the family.
The boy was abducted outside his home on September 9 and found dead at a local cremation ground the following day. A post-mortem revealed multiple injuries on his body. Police apprehended Manke Yadav, a migrant laborer, in connection with the crime. He stands accused of sodomizing and strangling the child.
The heinous act has fueled indignation against the state government, criticized for failing to instill a sense of legal fear. In response, several panchayats resolved not to support migrants lacking proper identification, reflecting a growing tension in the community.
