AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami paid a visit to Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi, a move seen against the backdrop of internal tensions within the party. Palaniswami's discussion with Shah comes amidst speculation about reconciling with factions of expelled leaders.
The AIADMK leader's visit also followed a congratulatory interaction with the newly elected Vice President C P Radhakrishnan, emphasizing Tamil Nadu's pride in his elevation. Despite calls for reconciliation among the ranks, Palaniswami remains firm on maintaining his leadership, dismissing merger talks as a distraction.
Within the political spectrum, the BJP has publicly recognized Palaniswami as the AIADMK's chief ministerial candidate for the upcoming 2026 assembly elections. While former leaders like O Panneerselvam and T T V Dhinakaran are encouraged to realign, Palaniswami fortifies his position by ruling out concessions for those who disrupt party unity.
