Germany's parliament on Thursday gave the green light to the nation's first annual budget following crucial fiscal reforms earlier this year. The approved budget ensures substantial investments aimed at rejuvenating the economy and a significant allocation for defense spending.

For 2025, the budget delineates nearly 116 billion euros in total investment. This is facilitated by a 500-billion-euro infrastructure fund, coupled with an exemption from debt regulations for defense allocations approved back in March. Operating without an official budget since last year's governmental breakdown, the allowances set the stage for robust economic strategies.

The main budget for this fiscal year accounts for 502.5 billion euros, or $588.28 billion. Additional funds come from the 100-billion-euro defense initiative introduced by former Chancellor Olaf Scholz, which, altogether, elevate the total budget to 591 billion euros. In 2025, borrowing is projected to reach 81.8 billion euros, supplemented by 61.3 billion euros from various special funds, according to a finance ministry spokesperson.
