In a striking political development, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Saurabh Bharadwaj extended support to Congress MP Rahul Gandhi's fresh allegations regarding voter deletions. Bharadwaj demanded accountability from both the Centre and the Election Commission. However, he didn't shy away from criticizing Congress and Gandhi for their previous silence when AAP spotlighted similar discrepancies during the Delhi Assembly elections in 2025.
Speaking with ANI, Bharadwaj lambasted Congress for only raising issues serving its interests, thus neglecting broader democratic principles. While acknowledging the seriousness of Gandhi's current claims, he highlighted that AAP had previously flagged parallel concerns in January 2025. Applications in Delhi's New Delhi Assembly constituency were submitted to remove 6,000 votes and add 10,500 new ones within 15 days, Bharadwaj alleged.
Earlier today, Rahul Gandhi revealed alleged efforts to delete more than 6,000 voters' names in Karnataka's Aland constituency. Describing these as failed attempts, the Election Commission dismissed Gandhi's accusations as baseless. The Commission emphasized that no vote removal happens without allowing affected voters a hearing, thereby repudiating the claimed electoral fraud.
