Fiery Conflict: Russia Denies Cold War with the West
Russia rebuffs claims of a new Cold War, describing current tensions as a more intense fiery conflict. The Foreign Ministry criticizes NATO and EU for alleged falsehoods about sabotage to justify military budgets, amidst heightened confrontation due to the Ukraine war.

In a stark rejection of Cold War comparisons, Russia declared the current tensions with the West as a more intense 'fiery' conflict. The Russian Foreign Ministry accused the European Union and NATO of fabricating lies about alleged Russian sabotage to defend large-scale military expenditures.
The ongoing war in Ukraine, the deadliest in Europe since World War Two, has exacerbated the discord between Moscow and the West, drawing parallels to the Cuban Missile Crisis in terms of geopolitical tension. Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova emphasized that the concept of a Cold War is obsolete amidst the heightened hostilities.
Accusations of airspace intrusion and sabotage by Russia, according to Zakharova, are part of a strategy by Western entities to provoke Moscow and rationalize heavy military spending. Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin views the conflict as pivotal in reshaping relations with the West, which he claims expanded NATO unfairly after the Soviet collapse.
