Union Law and Justice Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal has sharply criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his remarks on the state of democracy in India made during a visit to Colombia. Meghwal accused Gandhi of frequently defaming India's constitutional institutions on foreign soil, stating that such actions were not well-received by the Indian populace.

Accusing the BJP-led government of undermining democracy, Gandhi, speaking at EIA University in Colombia, pointed to structural flaws in the Indian system and emphasized the importance of nurturing the nation's diverse traditions. He asserted that the democratic setup was under significant threat, which he described as a 'major risk.'

Meanwhile, Meghwal, alongside fellow BJP leaders, visited a Khadi India store to promote Swadeshi products and the Atmanirbhar initiative, which ties in with the broader 'Vocal for Local' movement. On Gandhi Jayanti, Union Home Minister Amit Shah remarked on how Khadi and Swadeshi concepts, introduced by Mahatma Gandhi, bolstered both impoverished citizens and the freedom movement.
