Jahanzaib Sirwal, a prominent BJP leader from Jammu and Kashmir, has issued a stark warning to his party, threatening resignation over what he perceives as the oppressive actions of the Uttar Pradesh government against the Muslim community. The controversy ignited following remarks by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and a series of legal actions against Muslims in the state.
Sirwal expressed deep discomfort with the heavy-handed police response, which he believes contravenes Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of inclusivity. Notably, in Kanpur, 24 individuals were apprehended for installing 'I Love Muhammad' banners during a religious procession, prompting allegations of unjust targeting by law enforcement.
Standing firm in his beliefs, Sirwal has called upon the BJP leadership to retract divisive statements and quash unjust legal actions. He advocates for a return to democratic principles and cautions against compromising India's pluralistic fabric, urging reconciliation through dialogue and peaceful expressions of faith.
