The Franco-German FCAS fighter jet project has hit a roadblock, as mediators from France and Germany have been unable to bridge the gap between Dassault Aviation and Airbus, according to Handelsblatt.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz is set to be updated on the stalled negotiations this weekend, with a decision expected by Tuesday. A meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron is planned at the upcoming EU summit in Cyprus.
The €100 billion project, representing Germany, France, and Spain, has struggled over control issues. Efforts continue to revive the program with high-level political intervention.
