Mamata Banerjee Challenges PM Modi on Clean Waters and Women's Safety

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi during an election rally in Howrah, emphasizing the clean state of the Hooghly River in contrast to Delhi's Yamuna. She attributed the cleanliness to the efforts of the state and local bodies, allowing Modi to enjoy a boat ride.

Banerjee further challenged Modi's assertions regarding women's safety in Bengal by inviting comparisons with BJP-governed states like Uttar Pradesh and Delhi, citing incidents of violence against women there. She questioned Modi on his silence about the ongoing issues in Manipur and urged him to acknowledge these concerns.

The chief minister also voiced her objection to comments attributed to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, which threatened TMC members. Expressing strong conviction in TMC's electoral prospects, Banerjee dismissed Shah's label of Kolkata as a city of slums, arguing its industrial significance.
