Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, plans a two-day trip to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands starting April 26. The visit aims to highlight concerns regarding the Centre's Rs 81,000-crore Great Nicobar Holistic Development Project.

The ambitious project has ignited debates over its potential impact on the region's delicate ecosystem. During his visit, Gandhi will also travel to Great Nicobar Island, as confirmed by Manickam Tagore, who oversees Congress' activities in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Gandhi's trip follows a recent meeting with key stakeholders, including G Bhasker, chairperson of the Campaign Committee of the Andaman and Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee, and members of the Great Nicobar Tribal Council in New Delhi. It was during this meeting that representatives extended an invitation for him to witness the situation firsthand.
