In a notable development on Punjab's political stage, Gian Singh Mann, cousin of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday. He launched a scathing critique of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), alleging that the party diverged from its 'common man' identity after securing power in 2022.

Disenchanted with the AAP's governance, Mann criticized its leadership for allegedly reneging on a range of commitments made to Punjab's electorate, asserting that the BJP alone holds the potential to spearhead the state's development. 'The BJP's vision of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas' resonated with me, paving my path to join,' he expressed during his announcement.

This political shift occurs amid escalating friction, with Bhagwant Mann accusing the BJP of employing central agencies like the ED, CBI, and Income Tax Department against opposition figures, following recent raids. The shift is part of ongoing AAP defections, as figures like Raghav Chadha and Swati Maliwal transition to the BJP.
