Debate Over Dialogue: Changing Dynamics in India-Pakistan Relations

Dattatreya Hosabale, a senior RSS functionary, has sparked debate by suggesting continued dialogue with Pakistan. He emphasized the importance of people-to-people contact as a means to resolve the stalemate between the two nations.

However, Congress leader Manish Tewari questioned this approach, asking what had changed since the Pahalgam attack on April 22, 2025, by Pakistan-based terrorists. He probed whether any significant policy shift in Pakistan warranted such dialogue.

Tewari also raised concerns about possible external influences, asserting that the renewed push for engagement might be driven by powers with vested interests in Pakistan. He expressed skepticism about the effectiveness of dialogue given Pakistan's longstanding use of terrorism as state policy.
