The Tamil Nadu government has swiftly revoked its decision to appoint Rickey Radhan Pandit Vettrivel, a well-known astrologer, as the Officer on Special Duty (OSD - Political) to Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay.
This reversal came less than 24 hours after the controversial appointment was made, following sharp criticism from both political opponents and allies. The appointment had ignited a fervent debate in the State Assembly, with opposition leaders like DMDK general secretary Premalatha Vijayakanth condemning the move for placing an astrologer in a significant political role.
Facing escalating pressure, the administration promptly rescinded the decision. Official sources have confirmed the immediate cancellation of the Government Order. A replacement for the position is yet to be named.
