India is preparing to host a significant meeting of Quad foreign ministers next week, with discussions set to focus on pressing global issues such as the West Asia crisis and the current Indo-Pacific situation, according to reliable sources. The meeting is slated for May 26 in New Delhi.
Attendees are expected to include US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong, and Japanese Foreign Minister Motegi Toshimitsu, with Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar presiding. Jaishankar may also engage in bilateral talks with the attending ministers.
The Quad, consisting of the US, Australia, Japan, and India as the current chair, aims to forge strategies around peace and security in the Indo-Pacific amidst challenges like increasing Chinese assertiveness. The meeting could outline key agendas for an upcoming Quad summit in India this year.
