Punjab AAP Leader Condemns Union Minister's Conduct in Election Dispute

Punjab AAP president Aman Arora publicly criticised Union Minister and BJP leader Ravneet Singh Bittu after an altercation with police in Dhuri. Arora condemned Bittu for engaging in what he termed as 'gundagardi' or hooliganism, and making inappropriate remarks towards law enforcement.

The incident occurred on Tuesday when Bittu, demanding the release of BJP leader Onkar Singh, had a heated exchange with police who detained Singh for campaigning during the election's silent period. This standoff escalated when authorities restrained Bittu from reaching Dhuri, with him accusing the AAP government of abusing power.

Arora addressed the media, expressing outrage over such behavior from a senior leader of a major party, highlighting the violation of election protocols. He emphasized that no outsider is allowed during the post-campaign silence, a rule Singh and Bittu disregarded. Arora called for accountability, leaving any further action to the state leadership.

In response to a query about the Supreme Court's support for the Election Commission's Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, Arora expressed concerns over potential biases but declared respect for the SC's ruling. The court affirmed that the revision promotes constitutional fairness in elections.
