CPI(M) Stages Protest Against Fuel Price Hike, Criticizes Raid on Vijayan's Allies

The Communist Party of India (Marist) organized a protest in Shimla, expressing strong opposition to the recent increase in fuel prices set by the Union government. They demanded a rollback, criticizing the financial strain these hikes impose on the population.

Protesters targeted Narendra Modi, accusing him of exacerbating the economic burden. Diesel and petrol prices have surged by Rs 8, with similar rises in cooking gas and CNG prices. Vinendra Mehra from the Centre of Indian Trade Union highlighted that India already faces unemployment and economic challenges, and rising fuel costs only aggravate transportation expenses and daily living costs.

Additionally, the protestors condemned the enforcement actions in Keralam, viewing them as politically motivated. Mehra noted that crude oil price drops hadn't been passed to consumers, arguing instead that the government has increased excise duties, further burdening citizens.

Mehra also criticized the recent Enforcement Directorate raid on sites linked with former Keralam chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan, asserting that such actions were unjustifiable given Keralam's longstanding excellence in education, healthcare, and employment.
