CPI(M) Criticizes AIADMK MLAs' Move to TVK as Betrayal of Voters

CPI(M) Tamil Nadu secretary Shanmugam sharply criticized the four AIADMK legislators who switched allegiance to the ruling TVK shortly after resigning as MLAs. Shanmugam argued that this swift defection undermines democracy and disrespects the people who elected them.

The controversial move, which involved K Maragatham Kumaravel, S Jayakumar, P Sathyabama, and Esakki Subaya resigning within days of securing their seats, has ignited widespread discourse among political circles in the state. Shanmugam emphasized that such actions disregard voter intent and harm political integrity, suggesting that it could result in President's rule if left unaddressed.

The CPI(M) had previously conveyed its disapproval to TVK's leadership, labeling the pattern of frequent defections as harmful. Despite this, Shanmugam reiterated CPI(M)'s strategic support for the TVK government to prevent state instability and avoid further elections, which he claims the populace is neither ready nor willing to endure again.
