The Karnataka Congress convened a crucial meeting at Vidhana Soudha to decide its next legislative leader, who will follow Siddaramaiah as Chief Minister. The expectation is that D K Shivakumar, the former Deputy Chief Minister, will assume the leadership role, as indicated by party insiders.

AICC General Secretaries K C Venugopal and Randeep Singh Surjewala are supervising the gathering. Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is anticipated to officially propose Shivakumar's name for the new position. Shivakumar engaged with Venugopal and Surjewala ahead of the meeting, which is seen as a significant step toward his leadership. The newly appointed Chief Minister is scheduled to be sworn in on June 3 at Lok Bhavan.
