Kapil Sibal, a member of the Rajya Sabha, has issued strong condemnation against what he terms as the BJP's violent tendencies after an attack on TMC Secretary Abhishek Banerjee in Sonarpur, West Bengal. He described the BJP's actions as disconnected from their ideological stance.

The attack on Banerjee unfolded in chaos, with aggressors hurling stones and eggs while verbally abusing him. Banerjee managed to evade further harm by donning a cricket helmet with help from his team. He believes the assault was an orchestrated effort by BJP supporters who intended to put his life in danger.

In reaction to the incident, Sibal expressed on social media that the BJP embodies violence. Banerjee recounted the ordeal, stating he was fortunate to escape without more severe injuries and planned to report the incident to the governor and high court.

With video evidence supporting his claims, Banerjee asserted the lack of police presence contributed to the fervor of the attack, accentuating his commitment to remain in the area until law enforcement arrived.
