A devastating cloudburst and subsequent flash floods wreaked havoc in Himachal Pradesh's Mandi district, claiming one life and leaving approximately a dozen individuals missing, authorities reported on Tuesday.
The district witnessed torrential downpours with a record rainfall of 216.8 mm since Monday evening. Deputy Commissioner Apoorv Devgan confirmed the tragic fatalities and the ongoing search for those unaccounted for. Some families have been relocated to safety as the natural disaster caused widespread destruction across Mandi.
Significant damage to infrastructure, including roads and agricultural lands, has been observed. Water levels in major rivers reached critical levels, prompting dam releases to manage the overflow. The local administration has urged residents to avoid unnecessary travel, with several routes remaining obstructed.
