The flood situation in Odisha's Balasore district continues to be critical as nearly 100 villages in the region deal with submerged roads and fields, according to officials. Heavy rain and water discharge from Jharkhand have intensified the flood's impact.
Four blocks, namely Bhograi, Baliapal, Jaleswar, and Basta, are the most affected due to the overflow of the Subarnarekha and partially by the Jalaka rivers. Although water levels are decreasing slowly, they are still dangerously high in certain areas.
Officials, including the Balasore collector, are actively monitoring the situation. Emergency measures have been implemented, with approximately 2,916 individuals evacuated to shelters. Field officials in Jajpur are also on alert to handle affected blocks effectively.
