In a bid to tackle the persistent waterlogging issues plaguing Gurugram, Haryana Urban Local Bodies Minister Vipul Goel has mandated the inspection of 20-year-old sewer lines in the city's inner areas. This initiative aims at either renovating or replacing outdated sewer lines based on survey findings, according to Goel's directives.

The minister's review meeting, held at the PWD Rest House, underscored the urgency of the situation, setting a one-month deadline for survey completion. The decision arose after heavy rains caused significant traffic disruptions and waterlogging, leading authorities to advise businesses in the city—dubbed Millennium City for its rapid growth—to adopt remote work temporarily.

Goel also announced a comprehensive cleanliness campaign at the ward level, emphasizing the provision of resources, such as JCB machines and tractors, to each ward. The initiative promises cash rewards for the best-performing ward, aimed at inspiring sustainable urban cleanliness and development efforts across the rapidly modernizing city.
