Beijing Battles Torrential Rains: A Crisis Unfolds
Beijing is grappling with severe flooding after experiencing nearly a year's worth of rain in just days. The deluge has resulted in 30 deaths, massive evacuations, and infrastructural damage, prompting urgent government response and fund allocation for disaster relief and recovery.

In Beijing, torrential rains have caused unprecedented devastation, claiming 30 lives as of midnight last Monday, according to the Xinhua news agency.
The severe weather impacted Beijing's northern districts most acutely, with Miyun and Yanqing reporting the deaths. Since last Wednesday, heavy downpours have wreaked havoc, flooding roads and disrupting communications.
Chinese authorities swiftly relocated over 80,000 residents while issuing the highest-level alerts for rain and flooding. President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang have mobilized extensive rescue and relief operations to mitigate the catastrophe.
