Uttar Pradesh recorded a significant rise in its tiger population, celebrating this achievement on International Tiger Day. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and other officials emphasized the importance of wildlife conservation, hailing the tiger as a symbol of biodiversity and natural dignity.
In recent years, the state has increased efforts to improve tiger habitats, including creating borewells for water, fencing forest areas, and enhancing afforestation projects. Arun Kumar Saxena, State Minister for Forest and Environment, highlighted these initiatives as crucial to support the population growth from 173 to 205 as per the 2022 census.
Authorities are also focusing on expanding grassland cover to ensure an adequate prey base for tigers. Community education initiatives stress safety and awareness among residents living near forests to help maintain this critical wildlife conservation effort.
