Uttar Pradesh is enduring a heavy spell of rainfall expected to last for another 24 to 36 hours, according to the state's meteorological department. The persistent monsoon activity is attributed to a favorable synoptic situation, the department confirmed in a press statement on Sunday.

The monsoon trough has shifted north, passing through several districts including Shamli, Shahjahanpur, and Lucknow. An additional cyclonic circulation over northeastern Uttar Pradesh, near Bihar, is contributing to the downpour in the region.

Weather experts forecast that while heavy rainfall may persist until August 6, its intensity will likely reduce after August 5. Temperature drops have been noted, with Lucknow reporting a maximum of 28.5 degrees Celsius, which is 4.8 degrees Celsius below the normal range.
