In a progressive move, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan declared the allocation of 348 flats under the state's Punargeham housing initiative, designed to support families impacted by sea erosion and the Vizhinjam International Seaport project.

Announcing the update on social media, Vijayan stated, "Another promise to our fisherfolk fulfilled." A total of 332 flats at Muttathara and 16 in Unnial, Tanur, have been officially handed over, ensuring dignified and secure living conditions for displaced coastal families.

The Punargeham scheme, established to provide modern housing, offers relocated families sustainable environments with all essential amenities, marking a significant step towards solving displacement issues in the region.
