The Central Public Works Department (CPWD) has released a tender to construct two new buildings, aiming to revamp the Common Central Secretariat on Maulana Azad Road. This project is part of the larger Central Vista redevelopment plan, with an estimated cost of Rs 3,116.37 crore and a timeline of 21 months for completion.
As offices from the existing Udyog Bhavan and Nirman Bhavan transition to new locations, these aging structures will be demolished to make way for the new CCS Buildings eight and nine. The tender document emphasizes the significance of bidders assessing the site beforehand, with the last submission date for bids being September 16.
This development aligns with the government's broader strategy of modernizing its infrastructure, which includes newly constructed buildings like the Parliament, Vice President Enclave, and Kartavya Path, alongside plans for an Executive Enclave and a new Prime Minister's residence.
