Devastation in Dehradun: Uttarakhand's Struggle with Nature's Fury

Unprecedented cloudbursts and torrential rains ravaged Uttarakhand, bringing destruction to the capital Dehradun and neighboring regions on Tuesday. Swollen rivers swept away buildings and infrastructure, leaving a trail of devastation with six confirmed deaths, seven individuals missing, and over 600 people stranded throughout the hill state.

The search for the missing is ongoing, conducted under adverse weather conditions as NDRF, SDRF, and fire brigade teams continue rescue efforts. The Tamsa River overflowed, submerging iconic sites like the Tapkeshwar temple. Witnesses, including temple priest Bipin Joshi, noted water levels unseen in decades.

Rescue operations remain challenging due to obliterated roads and bridges. Viral footage on social media depicts rescue teams navigating dangerous currents, aiding stranded individuals. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is visiting affected areas, coordinating state and federal relief and restoration efforts to alleviate the impact.
