In a tragic series of events at Kanha Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh, the carcasses of three tigers, including the eminent 'Balaghat Male Tiger' and two female cubs, were discovered on Thursday. Authorities reported that these big cats appeared to have been killed by other tigers in territorial skirmishes.
The 'Balaghat Male Tiger', a well-known figure frequently seen by visitors, was found deceased in the reserve's Mukhi range. Post-mortem examinations revealed telltale injuries on its trachea, consistent with fatal wounds inflicted during a struggle with another tiger.
As per official protocol, the bodies were disposed of following the National Tiger Conservation Authority guidelines. These incidents cast a spotlight on the dense tiger population in the state, with Madhya Pradesh boasting 785 tigers, the highest in the nation according to the 2022 census.
